General information about Bergen and the festival: Bergen is the second largest city in Norway, located on the west coast. The city is also known as “the Gateway to the Fjords”. The City’s infrastructure is well equipped to host large events. Bergenfest has over the years established itself as a modern music festival of both national and international interest. The festival receives governmental funding on both regional and national level along with corporate sponsorships with Norwegian and local companies. However, main source of income is ticket sales. Bergenfest has been voted “Festival of the Year” by its peers in the Norwegian Rock Festival Council and twice received the price of honour from The Tourist Board of Bergen “for excellent marketing of Bergen”.
