Sliteneliten will perform at Bergenfest, Thursday 12th of june 2025!
The biggest Norwegian surprise at Roskilde Festival 2024 was seeing the small underground folk-punk group Sliteneliten on the lineup. Armed with a fiddle, a flute, and a ramshackle rhythm section, they have traveled far and wide to preach and proclaim their leftist message through political lyrics dressed in a wide range of genres.
No market forces or cultural gatekeepers asked for six outspoken women to pick up instruments—some for the first time—and start something that is equal parts band and political project. Yet, six years later, Sliteneliten has released two albums and played over sixty shows, many of them to packed crowds met with roaring enthusiasm. They have performed at protest camps for Førdefjorden and Repparfjorden, underground festivals like Eat the Rich, Urkult, Fjellparkfestivalen, and Karlsøy, as well as Oslo Pride and a spring tour that included a sold-out show at Oslo’s legendary venue BLÅ.
Inspired by The Raincoats, the Norwegian folk pioneers Amtmandens Døtre, and the cult punk band Kjøtt, Sliteneliten carries the torch forward without being an echo of the past. They have been handed a broken world with the message that nothing can ever change. That is something they refuse to accept. With maximalism and spectacle, hope, warmth, and joy, they prove that another world is possible.
